One day all men are scientists. Not because everyone will experience the frontiers of our knowledge but because everybody will be able to read and understand the scientific work, as now read and understand a newspaper and a novel. There is no mechanism to prohibit all'intelletto to understand human speech rigorous science. It 's just a problem of education in Science. I was reared with a deep Catholic education, but fortunately I have always, since small, passionate mathematics and physics and I grew up studying the scientific and religious teachings with equal commitment to the point that today I can assert without any doubt that Bible is the word of God and Science aims to understand the Voice of God with the rigor of Mathematics. Fundamental Laws of Nature are expressed, as the prof. Antonino Zichicchi in his book "Why I believe in the One who made the world", and I fully agree with him, to be precise mathematical equations. Unfortunately, most students learn by heart the formulas and forget the physical laws that contribute to drafting the formula itself, so the relationship between mathematical logic and the Bible is not to light. I must be proud to Prof.. MATTEO ANRIANO the Politecnico di Torino, which goes all my gratitude for having always encouraged to write every time the formulas from the physical laws responsible for the event. And these laws, created by God to the universe (if there was origin), ARE THOSE OF MOTORCYCLE OF NEWTON together with the masses and the forces neccessarie. And that's it, everything else is deductive by the performance of mathematical methods appropriate. . I recommend you read carefully what the prof. 4 - WE HAD THE GIFT OF REASON: USE
The conquste of scientific thought, during these four centuries, from Galileo Galilei to now, I have discovered that the nature and structures under consideration of the human intellect. L' antimateria è la materia composta dalle antiparticelle corrispondenti alle particelle che costituiscono la materia ordinaria.
Ad esempio, un atomo di anti-idrogeno, è composto da un anti-protone caricato negativamente, attorno al quale orbita un positrone (anti-elettrone) caricato positivamente.
Se una coppia particella/antiparticella viene a contatto, le due si annichiliscono emettendo radiazione elettromagnetica.
Il simbolo usato per indicare un antiparticella è lo stesso usato per la particella corrispondente, ma con una barra di sopra-scrittura. Ad esempio, il protone e indicato con una "p", e l'anti-protone è indicato da una "p" con una barretta posta in cima (-).
Gli scienziati sono riusciti, nel 1995 , a produrre anti-atomi di idrogeno, ed anche nuclei di anti-deuterio, ma niente di più complesso. Inoltre, l'antimateria ha vita breve e non può essere immagazzinata, in quanto si annichilisce al primo contatto con la materia.
In base alle conoscenze, non esistono quantità significative di antimateria in tutto l'universo, con l'eccezione di pochi atomi generati nei laboratori di fisica delle particelle presenti sul nostro pianeta, e nei processi astronomici più energetici. L'assenza di antimateria è uno dei grandi misteri della teoria del Big Bang , in quanto ci si aspetterebbe una produzione di materia e antimateria in proporzioni uguali (e una conseguente annichilazione). Probabilmente, un leggero squilibrio in favore della materia ha fatto sì che quest'ultima non venisse completamente annichilita, rendendo possibile la formazione di un universo stabile, che è quello in cui viviamo.
Con l'antimateria, tutta l'energia potenziale racchiusa nella materia potrebbe essere sfruttata, invece della piccola parte di energia chimica o nucleare che viene estratta oggi. La reazione di 1 Kg di antimateria, con 1 kg
di materia produce 1,8×1017 di energia (in base all'equazione E=mc2).
Per contro, bruciare 1 kg di petrolio fornisce 4,2×107 J, mentre dalla fusione nucleare con meno di 1 kg
di idrogeno si ottengono 2,6×1015 J.
A livello teorico, dato che l'energia prodotta dall'annichilamento materia/antimateria è nettamente superiore alle altre fonti di propulsione, il rapporto tra peso del carburante e spinta prodotta è estremamente vantaggioso. In effetti, l'energia contenuta in pochi grammi di antimateria è sufficiente a portare una piccola navicella spaziale sulla Luna.
Dall'annichilazione fra Protoni ed anti-Protoni, si ottengono: Neutrini , Muoni e Pioni, che sono i mattoni che tengono uniti gli atomi, che infine decadono ulteriormente in radiazioni Gamma. I primi, cioè i Neutrini, non sono influenzati dai campi magnetici appunto perché sono neutri, sono quindi inutilizzabili per i nostri scopi. I Muoni ed i Pioni invece avendo una carica sono influenzati dai campi magnetici, possono quindi essere indirizzati con un opportuno campo magnetico nella direzione in cui desideriamo e con il solito principio di azione reazione spostarci nello spazio.
CAP. 3- Quali potrebbero essere gli utilizzi dell'Antimateria ?
Gli utilizzi dell'antimateria potrebbero essere vari, a partire dalla costruzioni di potenti armi, all'utilizzo come propellente per astronavi o anche in campo medico.
Oggi l'antimateria è usata ogni giorno in medicina per analizzare lo stato del cervello, tramite la tecnica chiamata Positron Emission Tomography (PET). La PET
è un metodo di indagine che permette di misurare funzioni metaboliche e reazioni biochimiche in vivo ed ha larga applicazione nelle neuro-scienze, in oncologia e cardiologia.
Nella PET i positroni provengono dal decadimento di nuclei radioattivi che vengono incorporati in un fluido speciale, iniettato poi per via endovenosa al paziente. I positroni emessi annichilano con gli elettroni degli atomi vicini e danno luogo a due raggi gamma emessi in direzioni opposte. Essi vengono rivelati tramite opportuni rivelatori, disposti in "anelli" attorno al paziente, per individuare e registrare i punti in cui si sono verificate le annichilazioni e quindi ricostruire dove si è distribuito il radiofarmaco nel corpo.
Motori ad antimateria
Il principio del motore ad antimateria della NASA è sostanzialmente quello di un razzo che funziona sulla base dell'azione e reazione di Newton. La reazione che spinge la nave è però qualcosa di veramente possente. Facciamo un piccolo confronto: il motore principale dello Space Shuttle produce un impulso specifico (la misura dell'efficienza di un razzo) di 455 secondi; un motore a fissione nucleare può raggiungere i 10.000 secondi; un motore a fusione potrebbe fornire un impulso specifico compreso tra 60.000 e 100.000 secondi. Ebbene, un motore a razzi alimentato dall'annichilazione di materia e antimateria potrebbe produrre un impulso specifico anche di
1000 000 di secondi.
Prima di tutto bisogna però procurarsi il propellente. Una volta prodotti, gli antiprotoni vengono introdotti in una bottiglia magnetica, una trappola di Penning, dove vi restano confinati pronti per l'uso. Ma come è possibile sapere che nella bottiglia-trappola vi sono particelle di antimateria? In fondo l'antimateria è inodore e incolore. La risposta è semplice, perché le particelle di antimateria emettono caratteristiche onde radio le cui frequenze ne rappresentano la firma inimitabile, firma che Gerald Smith, dell'Università di Stato della Pennsylvania è riuscito a identificare inequivocabilmente. Smith ha anche dimostrato che la trappola di Penning potrebbe trattenere antimateria per più di 5 giorni. Una volta perfezionata, questa bottiglia peserà circa 100 kg
, la maggior parte dei quali costituiti da: idrogeno ed elio liquidi in grado di trattenere circa
1000 000 000 000 di antiprotoni quasi fermi in una zona di un millimetro di diametro.
Il fine ultimo dei lavori di Smith è quello di raggiungere una raccolta di un 1µg di antiprotoni intrappolati, quanto ne basta per alimentare un motore a propulsione ad antimateria. Un trilione di antiprotoni non basta però per un lungo viaggio verso le stelle: si potrà fare molto di più quando sarà possibile intrappolare, anziché antiprotoni, interi atomi di antiidrogeno, cioè atomi formati da antiprotoni e antielettroni, cioè positroni. Ed è proprio quello che stanno facendo oggi, a Ginevra i fisici europei.
Il problema è che l'antimateria è il prodotto più caro che attualmente esista sulla Terra: un grammo di antimateria costa circa 30 MILIARDI di Euro.
L'introduzione di un nuovo iniettore appositamente studiato nel grande acceleratore del Fermilab di Chicago potrebbe poi aumentare di 10 volte la produzione di antimateria portandola dagli attuali 1,5 nanogrammi a 15 nanogrammi all'anno. Ma quanto potrà essere aumentata questa quantità e quanto potrà essere abbassato il prezzo quando comincerà a funzionare la fabbrica di anti-atomi del CERN di Ginevra?

Credo sia difficile.... chi può dire di non averne mai visto almeno un episodio?
Tutti coloro che l'hanno visto forse la parola “siluri fotonici” ricorderà qualcosa; e bene questo genere di arma, di qui l'astronave Enterprise 1701-D era dotata, non è del tutto fantascienza.
Per spiegarvi in poche parole, i siluri fotonici hanno una carica esplosiva composta da 1,5 Kg di materia e 1,5 Kg
di antimateria. La materia e l'antimateria sono divise in piccole cellette mantenute da appositi campi magnetici di contenimento.
Al momento dell'impatto con il bersaglio o qualsiasi superficie rigida o campo di forza sufficientemente potente, il siluro disattiva questo campo di contenimento provocando l'annichilazione rapida di quasi l'80% della testata e provocando un'esplosione di circa 25.000 MegaJoules.
Nel caso dei siluri fotonici il modulo porta una carica di materia/antimateria, che provvede sia alla propulsione che alla detonazione.
All’interno dell’involucro si trovano essenzialmente 3 nuclei principali: il nucleo propulsivo, il nucleo detonante ed il nucleo esplosivo.
La testata bellica consiste in una carica di 1.5 chilogrammi
di materia/antimateria ( solitamente H e anti-H ) suddivisa in più pacchetti, l’utilizzo dei pacchetti consente di aumentare il potere esplosivo del siluro di oltre 3 volte rispetto all’utilizzo di una ugual quantità di antimateria in un unico blocco. Prima del lancio i reagenti sono stipati in diverse aree di contenimento. Approssimativamente un secondo dopo un lancio positivo, la testata viene armata ed i reagenti si avvicinano restando separati solamente da un campo di contenimento, al momento della detonazione rimosso il campo di contenimento ed i due componenti entrano immediatamente in contatto.
Il massimo raggio operativo di una testata standard è di 3.5 milioni di chilometri, ulteriormente espandibili sottraendo antimateria alla carica ed utilizzandola, nelle camere di accoppiamento del siluro, come carburante.
Speriamo che queste armi non vengano mai costruite, soprattutto speriamo che non ce ne sia bisogno.
CAP. 4- Perché non possiamo quindi usufruire subito dell'Antimateria?
Dopo le letture precedenti credo che i motivi siano chiari:
-Elevate difficoltà di produzione;
-Conseguente costo elevato;
-Instabilità atomica.
Il sistema stellare a noi più vicino è Alpha Centauri, un sistema ternario che dista da noi 4,25 Anni Luce.
Secondo un dato teorico, un viaggio su Alpha Centauri necessita un quantitativo di antimateria pari ad una cifra in tonnellate, per cui 3000 centrali nucleari dovrebbero lavorare per 1000 000 anni circa.
L'impresa ci risulta oggi impossibile con l'attuale tecnologia di cui disponiamo.
Ma gli scienziati sono ottimisti, grazie alla tecnologia di fissione nucleare attuabile intorno al 2040, la NASA
avrebbe infatti già disegnato un progetto praticamente attuabile per il 2050, un'astronave in grado di viaggiare a 85 000 km/s sfruttando un propulsore ad antimateria ideato da Robert Forward (morto nel 2002).
Il problema principale non è solo legato alla reperibilità di così tanta antimateria, ma del costo dell'antimateria stessa, che si aggira intorno ai 30 MILIARDI di Euro al grammo.

CAP. 5- Conclusione
Una mia considerazione personale:
Nel giro di questi ultimi 10 anni la tecnologia ha fatto passi da gigante in ogni settore, basta che ci guardiamo intorno e ci sembra quasi di vivere in un altro pianeta. Prendiamo in esempio un comune oggetto come un cellulare, un computer, oppure anche un'autovettura, oggi le macchine possiedono talmente tanti optional elettronici che per saperli gestire bisognerebbe quasi aprire una scuola che ce lo insegni...
Io ho molte speranze per quanto riguarda il nostro futuro, sono sicuro che un giorno la parola tele-trasporto e sintetizzatore molecolare diverranno di comune utilizzo nel nostro vocabolario, quelli saranno i giorni cui non troveremmo più piacere nel vedere un film di Star Trek.
Il giorno che sogno però è ancora lontano, il problema secondo il mio punto di vista non è l'evoluzione tecnologica in sé, ma ben altro.
Io confido solo nei nostri governi, affinché possano mettere da parte le loro divergenze e collaborare per migliorare prima noi stessi, e poi tentare di portare i nostri piedi su altri mondi, con la collaborazione e non con il denaro e la corruzione.
Vedere da vicino Alpha Centauri non è fantascienza più grande di questa:
